Cosmetic Surgery Blog: Treating Rosacea

Pope Plastic Surgery Center - ASPS Member Surgeon

Rosacea is an inflammation of cheeks, nose, chin, or eyelids and is mostly seen in women between the ages of 20 to 40. Rosacea can affect men too. Rosacea is not acne.

Rosacea can be caused by stress, anxiety, extreme temperature, smoking, and strenuous exercise. Small facial capillaries get damaged and cause blood leaks in various parts of the face, which is rosacea.

Rosacea can be treated with steroids or even microderm abrasion treatments. Some things to remember about Rosacea:

  • People with rosacea have skin which is sensitive to sunlight. Avoid exposure to sun and use head covering regularly.
  • Use mild face wash to alleviate redness from Rosacea
  • Non-surgical face-lift exercises, oral antibiotics, and topical creams may help reduce Rosacea inflammation.
