Post-Op Care Following Your Body Lift

Pope Plastic Surgery Center - ASPS Member Surgeon

Following the experience of significant weight loss, Orlando body lifts and contouring procedures help reduce the amount of excess skin and fat left behind. With a surgery of this magnitude, it’s important to keep a few things in mind for your post-op experience.

Swelling and bruising is normal. They should dissipate with time. If you choose to use an ice pack, be sure to wrap it in a towel first; do not place it directly on your skin.

You can typically shower 24 to 48 hours after your procedure, but it’s important to wash gently and avoid using very hot water. Your Orlando cosmetic surgeon will advise you when it’s okay to take baths.

Wearing a body lift support garment for several weeks following your procedure is mandatory. The support garment promotes better healing and also provides additional comfort after your surgery. Your medical team will advise you on the best garment for your post-operation needs.

Certain drugs can be administered during surgery to help minimize post-operative pain. These medications will be prescribed by your cosmetic surgeon. Be sure to have them filled before your procedure; post-surgery is not the time to be wandering around the drug store, waiting for your order to be ready before you can return home.

After about six weeks, you may be able to return to normal activities and exercise routines at the discretion of your Orlando cosmetic surgeon.
