A down-turned economy means fewer Botox and Tummy Tucks too!

Well, it’s not surprise for any of us. A down-turned economy means fewer dollars spent on “want” items, and now the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery confirms that logical conclusion. A study shows that in 2009, cosmetic procedures performed in the USA were down by 2 percent when compared to 2008 however Americans still spent almost $10.5 billion for cosmetic procedures in 2009.

However Dr. Renato Saltz, president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery feels that will change as soon as the recession lifts and people once again think about using surgical procedures to “look good”.

According to the published report, more than 50% of the people who underwent cosmetic treatment in 2009 were men and women between the ages of 30 to 50. And what was the most popular surgical procedure? Breast Augmentation followed by liposuction, eyelid surgery, abdominoplasty, and facelifts.

Non-surgical procedures like Botox and Dysport treatments were popular too along with laser hair removal treatments, microdermabrasion treatments, and chemical peels.
